The Fall Television Lineup is Here!

While for some, fall is a time for binging on sweater weather and pumpkin spiced lattes, the real bingefest comes with the premier of the fall TV lineup. Twenty-one new shows are hitting the Canadian airwaves this fall – the majority debuting during the final weeks of September.

CITY TV has the most newcomers with seven shows premiering, followed by five each for Corus and Bell Media and four with CBC. Dramas and sitcoms continue to dominate new programming with nine new dramas and eight situation comedies. CBC rounds out the content spectrum with three out of the four new reality series hitting the airwaves.

Notable TV programming trends for the coming season are:

  • Science fiction:
    The Manifest
  • Revival of scripted procedurals:
New Amsterdam, A Million Little Things, The Rookie
  • Female led and female-driven stories: FBI, Murphy Brown .
  • Ethnic Diversity: The Neighborhood, God Friended Me

As well, the Canadian networks are looking to capitalize on a continued appetite for nostalgia. After all, the MacGyver reboot proved successful, and Will and Grace is a hit (as was Roseanne… before she overshared on Twitter). Broadcasters are counting on the successes of the past in order to safeguard the programming of the future. As a result, we are seeing even more reboots making their way onto the airwaves this fall.

So sit back, relax, and take a scroll through the Media Experts TV website to get the insider scoop on what to watch this season – and what we predict will barely make it out of the gate before landing on the chopping block.

Stay tuned to see what happens!
